Loose stones and set stones

Sell diamonds and gemstones

A diamond with a laboratory report sells on its grades; one without sells on trust. Either way, the offer should be explained line by line. Describe the stone and receive offers that are.

  • Offers explained grade by grade
  • Coloured stones assessed by specialists
  • Setting metal valued separately, never ignored

1What are you selling?

Before you sell

Why is the offer lower than the appraisal?

Insurance appraisals state a replacement price at retail. Buyers pay wholesale for stones they need to resell. Read our guide on appraisal value versus offer value for the full picture.

Should I have the stone certified first?

For a diamond above one carat without a report, a GIA or IGI report usually pays for itself. For smaller stones, buyers grade in-house.

Are lab-grown diamonds bought back?

Yes, but at a small fraction of their original price. Their resale market is thin, which is worth knowing before you buy one.
